Probably smart steering. Try keeping bars straight when letting off. You can also disable.

Yea its the smart steering the throttle will stay at like 2500rpms until you straighten the bars.

I HATE IT... i want to disable but im afraid of warranty concerns later.

    super simple

You just unplug a white plug that runs from handlebars down to
    ECU behind battery compartment.
If you want to reconnect for whatever reason just do it!

I disconnected it in the Spring and never looked back! Plus I don't
have the possibility of going jet propelled into a bank like almost
happened to me riding with KawaGuy in Naples!

    function

The smart steering is an attempt by Kawa to keep the operator in
control. If there is no RPM's you do not have steering control. So
when you let off of the throttle and also turn the steering hard
in either direction the "smart steering" function is activated and
the motor revs to 2500 rpm's or so without you pulling on the throttle
lever. This allows you to remain in control as you will be able to
    steer the craft.
The problem is that most of us (and hopefully other riders) are experienced
Jetski operators and know how to drive them. It is disconcerting and
potentially dangerous in many of our opinions if all of a sudden the
ski revs on it's own and propels you in a direction you weren't anticipating.
So many of us just disconnect it. Search forum for this and there are
pix and explanations as to how to do it. very easy and very reversible,
    just entails unplugging a connector.
Seadoo uses a set of paddles in the back (OPAS or off power assisted steering) for the same effect. Many SeaDoo guys take 'em off for similar
    reasons.

I disconnected mine and I like the fact that the ski stops when I want it too. Check out the article in the "Tech Tips and Info"

    http://greenhulk.net/forums/showthread.php?t=20534

Below is the information cut and pasted from the thread. There is a photo on the link above.

Open hood go thru front hatch, drop the ecu out of the way find the steering bar that the steering cable hooks too, Follow the wire down to the white plug unplug it. Smart steer is disabled you just unplugged the magnet and you will not get a code.

there are two white plugs behind the ECU.
Is the one we want to unplug got a red, white, yellow & black wire?
    thanks.

White 3 wire plug red, yellow, and black.

    Hope this helps,

    Joe
