Groco Intercooler Water Strainer Kit question

    Hello Guys,
Great forum you have here. Learning more daily as I'm a newbie working outside of the the country. I'm in the caribbean and just received my new SC RXP and RXT. With no dealers anywhere near I'm trying to maintence tip top and do everything possible to help protect these guys from any major mechanical situations anytime soon.

I had the dealer swap the ceramic washers prior to shipping. I see over in the performance section the Groca intercooler water strainer kit. This looks like a good additional filter to protect the intercooler. Is this a good product? Are there better ones you recommend etc. Also is there any other good suggestions for helping to protect these toys out here in no mans land.

    Many thanks in advance,
    Scottyj

If you have an aftermarket intercooler then the water strainer is a must have. It's the best one on the market.

    Green Hulk,

Thanks for the reply. Everything on both my new RXT and RXP are stock. I'm just looking to bullet proof everything as much as possible since I'm far away from any dealers and trying to avoid any major mechanical problems for as long as possible. I'm fairly handy wrenching and can follow directions but have no true exsperience with sea-doos.

Is the intercooler filter set up for after market coolers only? Or is it not needed for what I have. After reading the shop manual closely, puller the current cooler isn't something I'd look forward to any time soon.

Thanks for the feedback and sorry be such a novice. Everybody is new at some point.

    Many thanks,
    Scottyj

The water strainer would be a waste of money for you. I only recommend it for aftermarket setups.

Definately install the metal washers into your supercharger as soon as possible.

I have the strainer on my stock intercooler on my new RXT. Should i take it off? I thought it would help because i ride in some water with alot of grass.

scottyj- I'd never want to argue with the Hulk, but if you aren't looking forward to pulling the stock intercooler, then the strainer might be a good idea. Back when I had the stock intercooler and no strainer, I grounded slightly on a sandbar, and lost about 350rpms; had to pull the stock intercooler out to flush the sand, which was at least a two hour job the first time. Once you have the strainer, youll be amazed at what it catches. Easy install.
