Ultra 250 Crankcase Ventilation/oil and Vapor Separator Kit - Now Available

Ultra 250 Crankcase Ventilation/oil and Vapor Separator Kit - Now Available

The R&D Ultra 250 Crankcase ventilation system was developed to offer a complete bolt on breather expansion kit which will substantially reduce crankcase pressures on Kawasaki Ultra 250’s supercharged engines. High performance engines (especially supercharged) need as much crankcase ventilation as possible. The R&D system doubles the volume of the O.E.M. crankcase breather and triple baffles the oil and vapor pressures within the O.E.M. breather case. The R&D system relieves excess crankcase pressures in the oil breather case and vents high pressures and fuel vapors into a piggyback vapor/oil catch can reservoir. The R&D vapor/oil reservoir mounts and connects directly to the O.E.M. oil separator tank with a quick and easy bolt on installation. The R&D crankcase ventilation and vapor separator system puts an end to oil blow by messes in the engine compartment by relieving excess crankcase pressures and trapping excess fuel vapors, condensation and blow by oil into the R&D oil/vapor separator.

    • Increases engine RPMs and performance by relieving excess crankcase pressures.
    • Decreases oil blow by caused by excessive crankcase pressure in high performance engines.
    • Traps fuel vapors, excess crankcase fuel blow by and condensation in the vapor reservoir and keeps them from entering the intercooler.
    • Helps to maintain a cleaner more efficient intercooler.
    • Helps to reduce and remove excessive fuel vapors and water condensation from the oil system which adds to oil life.
    • A great addition to any high performance long course or endurance competition race machine.

looks pretty much like a catch can to me,, with one very expensive CNCd spacer for the breather box..

With the kit now available so long after the problem became common, it surly has tons of research time involved.

The spacer is Lazar cut to ensure flawless surfaces and the auxiliary can is not hollow. R&D tried hard to keep the pricing down as they feel its a must have for all 250 motors.

So at the $359 GH price for the set, its not bad at all.

Does anyone know yet if this kit will void the warranty? What kind of feedback from our service tech should we expect when they see it and inform Kawi of the mod?

Skip, great to see you again. I stayed up late last night reading your article on this new kit. It anwered a lot of questions for me and helped put things in perspective.

Since the part only improves the craft and not add extra stress then I find it hard that they would. Still it is an un-answered question and no one here can honestly say it wont.
I will be digging hard on the new 08 model to find if it has the same design or they learned something from the release of this kit.

It would be best for everyone to stay in good relations with their dealer as they are the eyes for Kawi. Funny how much they see and don't see.

As for faulty rings? No they seem fine, they just cant operate to full potential under crank case pressure. Time will tell but this is by far our best option for this issue. Seems that the case pressure has caused other symptoms. Plugs were fouling from excess oil and carbon running through the intake track. Intercoolers not working to full potential from contamination and oil build up. Even causing the BOV to no longer seal due to oil contamination on the rubber seal of it.

Some items can use a band aid or they will never heal. So yes its a band aid to the ring issue. This aid will relieve the back pressure off the rings and allow them to operate as designed. Thus starting the seating process. Unfortunately the rings will always work better with less crank case pressure. So this is a patch that will need to stay on the boat unless Kawi is learning from this.

    I see you....
