Thumb Throttle to Finger Throttle?
May be a dumb question, but can you get a finger throttle instead of a thumb throttle for a Polaris? Reason I ask is the throttle control handle bar block on mine was overtightend by the last owner, and was cracked, so its just not secure at all. Im gonna have to eventually replace it, and would love to convert it to finger throttle if possible..... Any thoughts?

I'm going to watch this post - I'm interested in anything other than the flipper too.
I'd prefer a quality finger throttle that doen't have a pants-full of slop.
Are there any issues w.r.t. lever effort when used on a triple? (not for me, but if the Mrs. rides...)

Check out the factory Hurricane throttle.
Some just spin the thumb throttle around and cut out the handle bar pad for fitment of the cable.
Of course there are many aftermarket companies making the aluminum finget throttles but they are pricey for just cruising.

Mine looks like this
Took some adjusting for correct cable slack and throttle pull, but once done right I'd never go back. I got mine secondhand from beerdart and he had already cut a notch where the cable comes in for it to pass through, so I'm guessing that needs to be done on most. Probably my favorite thing on the ski, and operates effortlessly with just one finger so the rest of my hand is holdin onto the grip comfortably. Only drawback is I did have to do a slight trimming to the bar pad, and it wasn't too pretty. Considering just taking the pad off and throwing an MX style pad on the center bar.

these come up on ebay once in a great while I never called the dealer to see if they still have them.

You can also just get the finger throttle that comes on the Ocatne. It's a direct fit and uses the same cable connection as the thumb throttle. Most later year handle bar pads have the space already in it to have a finger throttle installed. You can get the Octane finger throttle right from Polaris or you can buy one through Watcon.

yeah ive got a 96 slx 780, dont want anything too pricey, ive spent enough lately on it! i think ill just hunt around for a new thumb throttle housing, then just flip it around and cut a notch on the handle bar pad and see how that works.... anybody got a new or almost new thumb throttle for dirt cheap?!

My two TX's #70 with stock thumb and #69 with finger throttle that I wanted to keep the stock "look"-you can see where I had to cut the very end of the cap off to fit the finger between it and the grip. Then had to drill a hole to pass the cable through-I'm still out on which I like better... and this set up is only good if you don't have big hands LOL the finger throttle really needs to be moved over towards the left for most riders
