    Ceramic Bearing Failure II

A friend of mine recently converted his 04 RXP SC to Riva's Pro Series SD Supercharger Housing and Impeller (S3). Also installed was Riva's supercharger ceramic bearing kit. Well after about 3 hours his supercharger grenaded (is that a word?) and locked up his motor due to bearing failure. Extended warranty will not cover because aftermarket ceramic bearings were installed.
    The conversion was professionally done.
Estimate to get back on water $3,000.

Probably not, they came from Riva not GH. The bad thing about it is, if he had the steel bearings it would have been covered under the warranty. They need to send damaged part back to BRP.

Jerry, would this indicate that We need to get the old ceramic bearings out of our s/c's? Or do you think this is just a installation hack. If it is a design issue, how do I go about getting the more durable bearing? Thanks.

Skip, i'm still running the old style ceramic bearings in my superchargers with no issues. I will be upgrading them this winter though when i get some free time.

The bearings in the online store are the upgraded ones with the titanium fiber reinforced cages. I understand that Riva also uses these new bearings too.
