Thread: Turbo whinning?
09-25-2007, 09:40 AM #1
Took the wifes ski out, noticed a whin. Think it is the turbo. No noise at low or full throttle.
Only whins when running med speeds.
Good, bad? Is this something I need to repair?

No vid or gauge. It's just a stock MSX150.
Rust? It did sit a long time.
I forgot all about the turbo gauge on the gauges. It ran good. Just had some noise during moderate riding. Plan on taking it out again this week. Waiting for clutch washers for my RXP.

There is a troubleshooting section on the turbo in the Service Manual on this site....

Just found the manual. Thank you.
From what I read change oil & filter, check coolant, may as well change.
But says replace turbo assembly. I will look at the turbo but probably run it after fluid change to see how it sounds.

Cool. That is what I will run. Also, some of the auto stores like Pepboys, Autozone, Murrays usually are pretty good on thier oil prices.

I was leaning to Amsoil for the bike next season.
Still wondering if there is anything to worry about? The noise was not present the whole time when rode last. I only drove it a few minutes. Let my buddy ride it for about 2 hours. It ran good, but the occasional noise. I was wondering if the waste gate was hanging up. I cant view the PFD here at work. This computer is crap.
I was planning on getting familiar with the layout. I dont even know where the waste gate is, if it can be worked or lubed to free up.
I do have the extended warranty. That is why I was willing to ride before replacing the turbo assambley.
Does the turbo have any replacable parts?
