    Need help strange noise?

OK I have a 2000 gp760. I know not a great ski but is the wifes' and now she said I could buy a new ski for me and she will take my GTI. Anyways, Some times when I try to start the 760 it will make an electrical clicking noise that comes from the black box mounted on the side of the engine bay. The box has all the electrical wires comming out of it and that main fuse. The fuse is good. When it does this sound it won't turn over the engine or the starter. it just clicks from the box. But then sometimes when I try to start it it will start cranking the engine and if it does not start the engine then it goes back to nothing. What could this be and how would I fix it? Thanks

I'm not a GP760 guy by any means, but it sounds like the starter solenoid/relay. Hopefully there are some guys on here who know exactly how to help.

Ditto on this there is a starter relay in there. I had mine go bad on the GP 1200 did the same thing clicked sometimes started sometimes then just plain quit. my 1200 and 1200R solenoids were the same so I am assuming this one is too. I went to the Yami dealer and he actualy had them in stock which tells me it is probably common to many different Yami's.

Have you downloaded a service manual from the How to Section?

Ill bet good $$ both of the guys above are wrong.

Its your ground. its corroded. Run a new ground from the battery to the front cover. A good long ground cable can be purchased from NAPA auto parts. Instll the new ground and then come back here and tell me how smart I am and how wrong Osidebill was! sorry Bill low blow!

And to stay on topic. Yes it could be a ground wire, it could be the positive cable, Battery terminals, or it could even be something jammed in the impeller keeping it from turning. So I would chack all of the above. to rule out what it is not.
