Any professional auto/marine painters among us? POLYETHYLENE
one word... POLYETHYELENE
I've learned ALOT about it in the past few weeks... and pretty much most of the info i've learned about it sucks because i'm working with it, and it's not a poly that's meant to be particularly worked on and tinkered with.. but i have no choice when i'm trying to salvage a one-off piece that can't be replaced.
I'm in the middle of repairing it after much research... all the methods from sanding to flame treatment to dulling the shine, etc etc...
After it's repaired, which i'm pretty optimistic my repair efforts will be successful, my next hurdle will be painting it...
Any advice? How-tos? tips from the trade?
I've read more or less the same.. no guarantees for adhesion, but flame treatment for preparation and dulling the shine and using exterior acylics is about all i've seen mentioned so far when it comes to painting polyethylene.
If anyone has experience with this, please help!
