What boat would you buy for 100K used?
Buying a 40ft slip, 14ft beam, and looking to buy a used crusing type boat. Trawler style, down east even..... need to be quality, good repair record reputation speaking, be able to get out of its own way at least able to do 30mph.... and really want to be able to mount a ski on the back somehow....no pure power speed boats. Ideally buy used 2000 and newer year model want to spend 70K, will go up to 85K and even 100K+ if its the right vessel. I am not looking to buy now just looking for ideas to start to review... thanks all!
Looking at a Carver SS 38 and 36 used but heard mixed reviews and on the high end of the price range..... any other ideas?

Searay 42. Nice boat and you can definately mount a ski on the back. (hydrolic swim platform with angled pannels for ski to rest on)

Sea Ray are high quality seaworthy boats. They handle great. With the right engine combo they are quick for what they are
Had a Wellcraft 36' dual inboard bought new, kept it for 10 years and it never let me down. It was mint. Took Hurricane Wilma to damage it.
Been caught in the Gulfstream in squalls with 20' waves and took it like a champ.
That boat could take a lot more than I was willing to put it thru. I have owned boats thru the years and by far the best quality, most reliable for an express cruiser type of yacht imo is Sea Ray.
Hydraulic swim platforms on 34' + boats are easy to mount your pwc to. Sweet fun set up.
Whatever you get, make sure to get a good survey done before you buy if you are going to buy used.

"Trawlers" have full displacement hulls. Very efficient and seaworthy, however pushing one to 30 would be next to impossible (nature of the hull).
I agree Sea Ray would be a much better choice than Carver but you might also want to look at Tiara's. Outstanding quality (even better than S.R. IMO).
They may be out of range of your budget unless you go older and smaller.

If you want a trawler style- mainship is good.
