    'How to' for carbon seal?

My friend has an 07 RXT that has a leak in the carbon seal due to his 4" intake pressing down on the boot, we think. Of course we would eliminate the pressure but then...
Could someone please tell me how to properly check, adjust, tighten, fix carbon seal leakage?? Any pics would be nice too...

larry... chances are the floating ring has no spun against a carbon seal that was being cocked at an angle and unevenly wore the sealing surface.

you can do this... hold the throttle wide open and hold down the start button (so the ski wont start) and look at the driveline seals... if everything is spinning smooth and straight it's fine... if it's got a slight wobble to it, it's shot...

ur taking on water tho u said... so the heck with checking it, you need a new carbon seal

Yes, Steve's replacement shaft bearings set up looks like the best idea for sure.

also Reids set up and he waiting for a RAD4 unit which is a little different.
If I went with a new shaft, I`d rather not cut it, so I`m waiting to hear which one works without cutting the shaft...PR...

Steve, let's say it's fine...how do I tighten it back down? just tighten up the clamps? or do I have to push on a spring or seal then tighten? I haven't been in it yet and don't know what to expect.

There's two clamps there; one holds the boot to the hull, the other holds the carbon seal in the boot. They both have to be snugged up. They sholdn't be loose unless you loosened them.
