2 stroke maintenance....?
I just got a2 stroke yamaha 1200 xlt and have no idea how to maintain it. I know I have to use only yamaha oil. That's it. I even have trouble turning the thing on. I choke it too much and it idles like shitt for a while. Where do I flush it?...So many questions....

I ride with a guy with an XLT 1200 (Well, until saturday when he picks up an RXP - got fed up of being left behind - converted! )
To be honest the things seem to be pretty bomb-proof - his has 150 hours on it and the things been abused! No real attention since the 10 hour service and it just keeps on goin'!
The flushing connector is under the seats - cant remember if its in the middle area or at the back of the hull opening but I think its pretty high up so should present itself. Its got a screw-on cap on it from what I remember.
Hope this helps...

Geo, its basically a good boat, but DOES need some upgrades to really be pretty bulletproof. I would definitely hit the Yamaha board and ask them for input.
I had a 1999 XLT1200 and upgraded the power valves, added Wave Eater keepers and couplers, sealed the pump shoe, added an intake grate and a Solas 12/18 prop (do not go with the 13/19 for your application of pushing that huge hunk of fiberglass). I would also replace the cat-con with a D plate (exhaust). Then it should be reliable and relatively quick for a big 3 seater. With those mods mine went 62.5 GPS and was quick out of the hole.

Well I dont plan on keeping it, Im selling it. But, Im taking it out for a few times before I do sell it so I want to make sure I know what Im doing. I dont want to mod it or anything.
