Raider winterization.. Antifreeze or no antifreeze - that is the question.

Okay, I searched and searched but did not find any specific topics on this, but if there is already a thread my apologies.

So, I have to get ready for winter. Yesterday was the last day for me this year, but riding into Oct. is great!

My question is, beyond fogging, adding stabil, lubing cables, etc. do I need to add antifreeze? Someone told me that this is a self draining system and it is not required. The Yamha owner's manual for my raider does not mention antifreeze either.

Really, the above list is about all I am going to do before storing. If you think I should do some other stuff please let me know!

    Thanks!

no antifreeze needed. just make sure you rev the motor a bunch of times to blow out as much water as possible from the exhaust.

Thanks addicted for the fast reply.

So, there is no chance of cracking block or pumps on this thing? It is self draining? What happens when any remaining water freezes (which the way it feels today could be any day now).

Not to be too paranoid, but adding a litttle antifreeze wouldnt hurt would it? Or would that just drain out anyway and big a big waste of time?

    Thanks again!

everything drains by gravity into the waterbox. that's why you have to rev it to blow out as much water as possible. the little that remains can't do any damage. I have never used antifreeze, and it gets cold here too.
