How many hours until you replace rings? Also Cat converter broken...

    2005 gp1300r

Today I pulled off my pipe to install the Dplate and the cat converter was missing.... I found it stuck in the elbow where it makes bend down towards the waterbox.
I found broken pieces of metal in the waterbox and got them removed.
While I am in there, will be reinforcing the pump tunnel.

How much will a broken converter like this slow it down?

Also, I think the ski has about 250 hrs on it... Compression is 120 120 115... While I have it the exhaust off and head ( shaving) it will be easy to replace rings, would you freshen it up now or wait?

    Thanks
    David

Is this the parts all the parts I need to replace? Do you usually replace top rod bearing while doing rings or just rings? 176.00 total to fresh ?

Dont forget the base gaskets - I have to say with everything you are throwing @ the ski. This may be the time to do the porting considering you have it all apart anyway.

66E-11351-01-00 $9.87$29.61Yamaha GASKET, CYLINDER HEA these cylinder base gaskets?

I just keep eye on prize, and think how sweet this thing will be running when season comes back around Just left a message for Tim Judge to talk to him about doing some porting. I messaged him and lowell a couple days ago, but havent heard back from either yet.

While the jugs are off... now would be the time

Lowell is in Hazasu at the world finals all week. I will bet Tim is there too.

Replace the wrist pins and thrust washer if you are just going to freshen it up. If it were me I would just get Pro-X piston kits and replace the whole thing.

Yeah, that explains why I couldn't get up with either one, thanks. Where is best place to get the pro-x kits?
I do want to put it back together as good as can be. I just wonder if now wouldnt be best time instead of doing the porting/pistons/head for 1000 to just go ahead and do bigbore kit for 2000.00

The last 1200r Pro-X kits I bought from Jimmys Jet sports ran me Just a little over $300 then all you need to get is the bearings. He threw in a set of bearings with my Kits but they were WSM and I opted for the tried and true OEM bearings.
