Proper installation of stock IC blockoff

I know this has been mentioned a lot on the forum over the past years, but we have a bunch of new members so i just wanted to offer this installation tip.

When going with an aftermarket intercooler and you are installing your stock intercooler blockoff plug be sure and run a bead of black silicone around the mating surface of the plug. Do not rely on the O ring to seal it properly as it won't and you will suffer from a boost leak.

How many of you are running external intercoolers and didn't seal the stock IC blockoff with silicone?

It's more 'stuck' in there..And it's clamped by the same clamp that goes around the I/C b/o.. It's just that the pressure on a little blocking plate has a much greater effect than on an entire cooling core. Also, the air is flowing through the stock intercooler compared to the air being pushed into the stock I/C b/o and rebounding back and forth through the manifold.

    Ahhhh I see.
I really want to install this IC but I am terrified something bad may happen.

    thanks for the explanation James.

    One more question.
If the piping to the SC is about 2.75 inches what advantages are there in have a 4 inch intake?

The air coming out of the supercharger is compressed and will flow well thru the 2.75" outlet.

Feed that supercharger all you can and you do that by running a 4" intake

Hey, I was in a hurry the first time and it slipped my mind. Was running 68mph with a full stage 2.

Fixed that and a couple other minor things and am now at 75mph. I gotta chill and not be in such a rush or something is really going to bite me in the ass someday.
