    Anodes for intercooler

    Okay,

Everyone has me nervous about my Riva intercooler leaking saltwater into my engine.

I went out and pieced together a fitting/pencil anode combination that's just too big and bulky to work together with the other 15 lbs of crap stuff in that area.

I saw a picture on here of what seemed to be a screw type anode or a small one. I can't find any "small" anodes anywhere. You can get giant 6 lb anodes that look like fish, but it seems they don't make a simple small screw type.

I'd like to drill a hole in the top of the inlet side brass T and screw an anode in there. Something that's small and isn't going to have a huge effect on the flow. I can replace them as often as need be.

    Anyone?

You can probably use the same Anode who are used on a rideplate..
Don't know the price but it's could be a great alternative ..

    My 2 cents !

Too big. Has to be in the stream of the electrolyte.

What about running a ground wire from the IC to the engine block; does that work/how should it be done?

Here a pic of mine....brass parts from Lowes...anode from:

I like my setup... You can also run a 12 guage copper wire from the ic to the pump support bolt sticking through the transom and it will use the anode on the pump...
I definately think it will give the ic a longer life..

If I ran a ground to the bolt at the transom, what would be the best way to connect to the intercooler? At the copper fitting or at the aluminum body somhow?

Sure, alum body or brass fitting...any metal on the ic connected to the bolt on the transom would electrically connect the ic to the anode already on the pump. That gives the ic the protection it needs.
