It's official, I'm screwed!
Went to the river today with the monster 00 1200 and 01 1200 stocker to let my son and his buddy ride and do some testing on my 01. My 01 was acting like the servo motor was bad so I disconnected to try and see what it would do. The ski would run great up to 7000 RPM then totally fall on it's face until you let off the throttle. Hit and again and it would do the same thing. The ski was still doing it when I manually opened the PVS. The ski has 40 hours on a complete new top end, 3 years old, rebuilt carbs by Carl @ Island, and your basic handling kit.
Now to the big problem.
I was riding the 00, pulling 7120 RPMS @ 71.5, normal for a full tank of gas and 1200 grate, then all the sudden she died. Hit the starter and died again. I new I had a problem. Pulled the seat and found oil seeping from the #1 cylinder. Figured I blew an o-ring from the ADA head. Putted to shore, 30 feet, then loaded up. Got home and removed the head and the #1 cylinder let go of an 1" piece of piston, the top ring is coming up from the piston, and scratenal is even in the #3 cylinder. The jug is not scared to bad, but enough to need to be re-nicked. The upsetting thing is that I have 25 hours on this new top end.
I am about to go back to my shop and take picts. Not sure what happened, and I am about to tear into a case of beer so I almost do not care right now.
I will post more and picts later, or maybe tomorrow, depends on if I can walk or not.

Tell me about. With the top end, 05 pump, and everything else I did last spring, I am in it for $2500.00. I can get it running for a few hundred, add $700+ for a crank and I should be ok. If I am going to go through a motor, then big bore would be the only way to go, but then I will get into the $2500+ range for all that. I may just sell it and find a 1300 with low hours and build it up.
I dont know! Just f***ing sick right now.
Looks like it just spun a ring. See the photos.

Ouch, sorry to see this kirk. Is this a result of the o-ring design of the heads you are running? Ever though about running the pro-tec one piece head?

Lean,detonation,piston/cylinder heated up and the exhause side melted away.Whats your turns out on the highs? Also, check and see if a ring pin is missing, another cause.1 and 2 have very little wash from the pics.

Where's the wash? Hmmm. +1 on the lean idea.

Kirk, for $400 you can get that cylinder fixed, new piston with the works. That will take care of your top end - millenium, I just went through the same thing.
Send the crank off to crankworks, for $155 they are trueing and welding my crank. They do a variety of other things. If you just need to get one rod replaced or something after inspection, its not that much more. Just a thought.
Scrap that ADA head. I have seen nothing but problems with ADA heads, even on seadoos. Take your stock head, send it down to Jim in Florida and have him mill it, $85.
So for less than $750 you can have your ski back together.
Hope this helps. If ya need anything let me know as well.
