    Breather pipe blockage.

While installing the R&D crankcase vent kit, I decided to check the crankcase breather pipe on the side of the block that goes into the bottom of the breather case. It was almost totally blocked with silicone from the factory. This has been posted on before and that's what reminded me to check it. (that and the instructions from R&D tell you to check it) As you can see from the pic, it was very restricted and probably was not venting as it should. If you are installing the R&D kit or decide to check the pipe, be sure to put some silicone at the base of the breather pipe when you reinstall the breather box to the block.

    OK Guys,

I looked around for a bit, including the ktech bulletins and i can't find the kawi article on clearing the silicone from the breather tube. Where is it? Am i hallucinating that i saw a kawi tech article on this??

ES; I think we first heard about it from someone who got the info from a dealer that knew what was going on. I don't remember an article quoted..

I don't know if this is what you mean EShkr, but I posted a part diagram showing the breather pipe because Kawi instructed my dealer to check it when I first reported loss of top end and rpms. There was a suspicion of silicone blockage exactly as found by BMan. I was hopeful this was my problem because I read in one of Skip's posts that a blocked breather pipe can cause a myriad of symptoms that may mimic bad plugs and other things. In my case, the pipe was ok.
