HydroSpace Runabout - APBA & IJSBA Rules
What do you guys think they will do with the new 342 hp runabout? Will they let it run in stock? Or bump it to limited or open class?

I'm almost betting they bump it up, if it's pushing 76 or so in stock then even just a decent rider could stomp everyone.

i am willing to be they don't homologate it for the simple fact that is has almost 1000cc's more displacement than the current 4 stroke rules allow.
even in the anything goes gp class it is still 600 or so cc's over the current legal limit

If it proves reliable and you can make it run in the ugly water it might make a pretty killer endurance boat. Ahhh speculation is so easy.

In limited and GP class on the European tour (only 5 races) the limit is 2300cc for N/A machines. The rumor says this is all N/A machines, hard to belive.
If the 2 smaller version are N/A they can compete in runabout 800 because they allow more cc on four strokes against 2-stroke, the can not compete in Runabout 1200 stock because they are 12 kg to light (260 kg), rule book says minimum 272 kg on 4-strokes.
Hydrospace are not stupid, they have manufactured skis that will fit into to classes one way or another, even if they have to make their own classes. Otherwise they have to pay someone to change the rulebook. I dont think they have given us all info yet....

but now they are taking all the skill out of racing and it has become he who has the deepest pockets wins the race.

but when you make the purchase price such that only the elite few can afford it, what does that say about the sport... that it is a rich mans game?
and just because it is the biggest and fastest doesn't always mean it will win.

It is like F1 racing. Some race Ferrari's, some race Toyota's.
