Bought A Ski On Ebay, Now What???

Just won an auction for a ski on eBay and I will be picking it up this weekend, what should I check when I go to pick it up. I got it cheap, but owner says that it won't start?
I will bring compression tester with me, compression on the 701cc engine should be 150 right? Any ideas what else can be wrong?

    Here is the link:

seems like you bought it as is? I wouldn't bring anything but a tow vehicle! unless He made promises? then I would bring a comp tester at the very least

I talked to him before the auction end and he said that the ski must be ok, he just can't start it and I told him that if I buy it, I will inspect it and if something major is wrong I will not buy it.

I figure at that price as long as it has good compression (150 psi) its a good deal? What else can be wrong to prevent it from starting?

I saw the link! you bought it as is and for that price even if it did need a motor your OK! EDIT to catch up on your post! maybe bring a battery if u have one compression should be 120 plus but more important it should be close to each other! That is one reliable motor!! Z

bring either a battery or a good battery charger

some of the better chargers can be used to start the motor

I was looking for this particular model because I love the 701cc motor, you can put 1,000 hours on these motors if you maintain them right. This is the last year for this motor too.

I bought a 99 that didn't run and all it needed was a carb diaphragm! it is a nice dependable ski! I think they were king of the rental fleets also
keep us posted !it looks nice! but I wonder why in needed graphics and such already? but the guy sounds like he might have money to burn?

Pull each plug and see if theres a spark.
Take a comp tester and if they both test the same take it home and rebuild the carbs.
I think the 700 had more than 120 psi I never had one.(145 psi sounds right for some reason)
Go through all of the fuell filters when doing the carbs.
Test with throtle pulled and other plug in.

I used 120 as a baseline so depending on gage etc even if it were down to 120 # that ski would run great! I might have the actual # but your probably correct Scott
