    Skat-trak pump mod

I think its time for a stainless wear ring since my pastic ones only last around 2-3 times out riding. I called Skat they kept on going off subject about their magnum pumps that they are testing right now. Im not interested in spending $1,000 or more for a new pump. Maybe that $475 stock pump upgrade what Hulk was talking about. My ski is only lightly modded. Will it be worth getting the double bearing upgrade with the stainless wear ring? I need more information on the setback mod also. I dont know to get it unless I notice I BIG difference in hookup. Then that prop will have to be married to the pump with no more prop changes. I hate wasting money on mods that you dont notice a difference.

I had a feeling that no one on this board would know about pump modding.

I don't know anything about nothing, but I've read many posts about the SS wear ring and I understand the longevity of that in comparison of the OE plastic. However if you're chewing up rings every 2-3 outings, then you do realize that by getting an unforgiving wear ring will put the stress on the impeller if the reason you're chewing 'em up is because you're sucking stuff in. I would suggest finding out why you're going through rings and then decide what's best. I'm leaning towards the double bearing and SS ring mostly because I ride in debris free water with little chance of sucking stuff off the bottom.

I think the double bearing mod with the stainless steel wear ring is money well spent. I haven't sent my pump off yet, but plan to do so in the future. Im a little leary of their "set back" mod and would wait until others tried it first with proven results.

You really need to call Skat and talk to Glen.

So Hulk, educate me...the double bearing mod with the SS wear ring is the one costing around $500. The set back mod is a whole pump? Costing over a grand?

The prices I got from skat were...
$213 for the steel wear ring (need to send your pump to them) +shipping
$425 for wear ring and double bearing mod + shipping
$475 for ring, bearing and setback+shipping
Around $1000 for the magnum pumps but they are in testing right now.

they can do the setback mod to your pump, double bearings (magnum design) and a stainless steel wear ring for under $500
