    C-Rod Blows

Last time I flushed my Ultra in the driveway it idled for a while and then went dead. Found out why tonight. Blown C-Rod as it were. Strong smell of gas in oil, thin oil, poss oil leak but have doc of oil changes every 6 to 10 hrs. Tried to snap a few good photos. Will post close ups of pistons and will be interested to hear burn diagnosis. I thought I saw a lotta carbon for just 70hrs.

Oh, I should explain that I have a good dealer who treats me fairly. I have good communication and documentation. I have no warr concerns.

Dont feel too bad for me. I actually think I was real lucky she went kaput in my driveway at the very end of the season. I know there is plenty of time to put Humpty back for Spr 08!

    Aww man....

I am confident you will be taken care of nicely. Keep us posted in detail. I'm interested in the part number for the pistons and rings your engine will be replaced with.

Hmm, that looks a bit tore up. I wonder what their proceedure is for this one.

The bright side is it looks like your breather box tube appears that it is relatively clear....at least from the angle.

The 15F had similar problems with the bolt and nut comming loose from the bottom of the rod and causeing simular damage. Im wondering if the same has happened to you.

Please keep us posted to the results and cause.

    Valves, valve tappet close up.

I think metal scraps are all part of shreaded C Rod bearing insert. It was like pannin fer silvur nuggets!

Mechanic asked whether I heard any loud grinding noises but I did not.

Ski at 70hrs. Gas in oil problem from start. Frequently checked and changed oil. Crankcase Ventilator kit was just 2 weeks from delivery! Rode frequently at WOT, in rough seas. No mods other than bilge pump, groco strainer, pump wedge then Riva ride plate.

Good news, ski is now predisastered, chances of it happening again are much less now.
