ReUsing Head Bolts?
How many times should you use OEM head bolts ('06 GPR) before replacing them?
-assuming proper torque was applyed at each install.

To be safe i'd replace them after one removal, so on the second removal go get new ones... they're very cheap and can prevent a costly break if you have high hours and/or do a lot of wrenching. Where I work we build tractors and if we have to remove bolts for repair they automatically get new bolts. In my eyes better safe than sorry, just make sure you get bolts of the same hardness as the OEM headbolts, not sure of the spec.
I don't know what others will say, but I am pretty sure you can find the bolts for pretty cheap.

I have reused them several times! I doubt ppl run out and buy $60 worth of bolts everytime they inspect cylinders.....

I dont' think it's necassary to replace head bolts.
I've been thru 2 rebuilds and have taken my head of several other times without any problems. Same with dirtbikes & fourwheelers I've worked on.

im not sure about the headbolts in this situation but if it was mine i would replace them for peace of mind as im in the automotive game and most of the cars i work on that have alloy blocks u have to repace them because the bolts strech and when u go to reuse them they pull the threads out of the alloy block i have seen this many many times.... regards Robert

25 ft lbs of torque is nothing these bolts will outlast your ski.

if yami has a chance to ask more $$ of us by way of NOT RE-USABLE i think they would of hit us with it in the manual,
these are strong and well made head bolts so i see no reason they would streach..
just my 2 cents..
