Does OPAS BLOCK OFF= Worse Steering?

Is it worth it to takes the OPAS off (gain in speed i imagine) and any Advantages/Disadvantages?

If you go with the Riva Pro Block Offs or RE Block Offs you will get better handleing and better tracking. The only disadvantages to these block offs is the cost.

opas is like training wheels 4 jet ski's...the findrop in the water off throttle acting like rudders somewhat turning the boat ...theyput them on for novices as a safety thing because people panic.....let off the gas and try and turn ...without water coming out of the nozzle they go straight into whatever they were panicing about hiting ..sot with the rudders in the water it somewhat turned off the gas....you wont notice a difference riding it normal other than you may pick up some speed

This is a bit of a big debate topic to say the least. That being said there are some very successful racers who insist on keeping the OPAS on.

I have two skis. One is a 97 SPX, No opas, I was used to riding that one from time to time, but mostly riding my RXP. I never thought about the opas when switching between skis. I had no problem steering the SPX when I was riding it, and I had no problems with the RXP, but the first ride I took with the RXP without them was like WOW. I had to get used to steering the RXP all over again, but I would never put them back on. It is a lot more fun without them. Plus the speed gain is worth it.

Drop the Opas and have fun.

i think the racers keep them but clip them up.... the the opas fin work just like ...well sort of like the pro opas block offs ...i think it has to do more with prorpusing than accually turning the boat due to the length if that portion of the hull i have pics in my profile of the ones i made for my boat they accually extend past the rear of the boat a bit but i dont think it is allowed in racing the do work great

for the people that have done the OPAS removal, do you just leave the OPAS hose that goes from the pump into the hull or does the blockoff remove this too?

No, they don't. The RXP's don't go up / down like the GTX based hulls.

Are you talking GTX or and RXT?

The hose from the pump back into the hull needs to be removed. The white elbow is removed and then plugged. the other end that goes into the hull gets blocked off,

Green Hulk had a great recommendation:
inside the hull remove one of the OPAS hoses then take the other one and loop it to the port from the other hose. that way the water will just recirculate.
