    trailer registration

I put this in here because there is more activity here.

I got the registration request for my trailer. It says I need to provide proof of insurance Now, in Texas, all cars require insurance no matter what. But that is a MOTOR vehicle.

Do trailer registrations really require registration? Or is this just an error since most registrations go to motorized vehicles.

I aint paying for insurance for a $1,000 trailer that is paid off. The damn insurance would cost more than the trailer after a couple years.

In AZ, no. It's covered by the vehicle towing it.

    Your state could be diff.

I think it is a state by state deal. SC does not require one to be registered.

Here in Jersey reg. is required and the towing vehicle provides the insurance . So if my friend borrows my trailer his car insurance would cover it .

maybe they mean my vehicles insurance....it doesnt specify.

I just wanna make sure before I send them a check. I wouldnt put it past the bastards to cash the check and deny the registration. I cant find it specifically online and I cant call about this, they never answer the phone. I suppose this is the norm with all state govt. though.

    thx for the help guys

You don't have to have a tag on a trailer in S.C. ?
Most insurance policies for a vehicle cover will cover a trailer you are pulling.

I got my registration and plates not far from you in Ellis County and I didn't have to show any proof of insurance. I just showed the title to the trailer.

As far as I know every state is the same for trailer insurance

Trailers are covered by the car/truck towing it

what your read is prob just printed on all registrations because 98% of them are for motorized registrations that do require insurance

But Id check with the local police or state gov
