Water coming into cylinders XLT 1200

OK, rebuild a stock engine in a stock xl1200, and I have water leaking into the three cylinders, I know this is a very open question, but what would be your first thought, along with the check downs of what else it could be, just trying to get some ideas, thanks guys R

and just to mention, it is just on the hose, not in the water, and it will run for like 15 min, then stop, I shut off the water asap, pull the plugs, all three cylinders are shooting water.

I did have the head off, the inside looks great, and clean, head gasket looks in great shape. I will try and take a look at the base gasket soon. Is that the two main things, or would there be other things I should look at when I get it apart? any other ideas?

your head gasket is still 3 layers right?

go over the tops of your jugs and the bottom of your head with a razor blade, make sure theres no residue/buildup.

    water in xl1200

do you start the ski then turn on the water... ski must be running before hose is turned on and then turn hose off before turning ski off... it is a common mistake on these

the water has to fill the waterbox up, work its way up to the u-pipe then down to the cylinders,, its OK to turn the water on first then the motor.....the motor doesnt give the water any more thrust, it just clears the waterbox not allowing it to go back up the pipe......

Engine then water no what ifs. NOTE: this would be an extreme case. If this would happen to you or know someone this happened to please feel free to switch to sailboating.

...ya but if you start the ski then trip and fall your motors gonna be running without water .....atleast you could use the water logged parts after they dry,,, goodluck doing much with the burned up parts with no water.......

not to mention if your in front of your garage the fumes could build up and you would die of carbon monoxide poisoning....... thats extreme
