Thread: thermostat

    thermostat

    93 sl750, should i remove the thermostat or leave it in. I am worried that it could stick and overheat the engine. any sugestions?

    al, do you just remove the thermostat, or do you need to put in a restrictor. what about the pop off valve? leave that, or remove that also?

    Remove the thermostat but leave the pop off valve in.

    Exactly what Rodney stated.

    I will use restrictors but only when I remove the pop off valve and/or go with individual pissers.
    I don't mind waiting a little bit for the engine to reach operating temperature as it's usually about the time I make it through the 5MPH zone.
    If a guy were to replace the thermostat every couple of years he'd probably never have a failure but I just don't have that kind of luck.

    I'm all for dumping the thermostat just as Polaris did in later years.

    The pop off valve is right next to the termostate,when you remove the t-stat you'll see it.
