Polk County Sheriff's Office is seeking volunteers for its search and rescue team.
The team is looking for ground search and support team members, as well as individuals with specialities, such as owners of 4-wheel drive vehicles, all-terrain vehicles, horses, personal watercraft or snowmobiles, said spokesman Dean Bender.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a good driving record and be able to pass an interview and background check, Bender said.
Applicants also should be able to walk long distances and in difficult terrain.
A training academy to receive state search and rescue certification is set for January.
For applications, go to 850 Main St., Dallas OR 97338 or online at www.co.polk.or.us. Deadline to apply is Dec. 7.
For information, contact Bender at (503) 623-9251.
