    Sugar Sand

Anybody have or even heard of one? I used to sell them eons ago, great boat for the buck back then.
V-6 with jet out drive you could do 180's and 360's the hull was so flat.

I live in West Fargo, ND where they are built (Fargo, ND). They have increased in size and now offer the Gecco boat line (a wake boad type boat) along with the Sugar Sand. I remember the Heat and Mirage, now its the Tango, bigger motors not as much fun as they used to be. I can remember when you would be all out forward and instantly put it into reverse and the whole boat would submerge.

Sugar Sand is done....When they started they were the best small jet boat out there. Everyone else had two PWC motors in thier boats and still could not keep up with them.

Have a friend looking at a 1998 red Sugar Sand Tango Limited.
All he knows about it is that it got 175hp and it only has 25 hrs on it.
How fast does these things run 40's-50's?
Any kind of known toubles with them?
The price of $2500 seem fair to me for the amount of hours, but don't know what to tell him.
Trying to talk him into getting ski's, but he wants something for the wife and two small kids to ride in.

That 1998 175 hits about 55-56 on gps I have one and I love it. That is very low hours, tell him to grab it for that price. That motor is bullet proof except for one thing. There is a plastic gear on the crank that turns a bronze gear on the oil injection pump (you know where this is going) Fails all the time. Something I think Mercury designed for perpetual maintenence. Oil block off kit $5.89 easy fix. Sugar Sand made hand layed glass hulls so they last. Check the bottom for gelcoat bubbling, If it's there pass. But you probably won't find any. One more important thing that has been mentioned. They are out of business so keep that in mind. They have Mercury power plants and almost everything else on that boat was outsourced so you really don't need them. They only made the hull but put it together with other products. Check out jetboating (dot) net for more info.
