    Evel Knievel 1938-2007

Just saw the news flash. Evel Knievel died today at 69. He was one my heros growing up. I spent a lot of time jumping bicycle ramps because of him. Good times. Somewhere in my parents attic there is a EVEL KNIEVEL lunchbox, halloween costume, several motorcycle toys, and a
ESTES rocket painted up like the snake river rocketcycle.

He did a little "Cameo" on one of our ALS-foundation motorcycle rides a couple of years back. Couldn't ride for very long.

Sucks, I have had several broken bones because of things I seen him do, we would line up shopping carts at 12yrs old like they were cars, and tear up who knows how many bikes we bent cranks and forks and stripped handle bars (this was mid 70s) as we were jumping them....my record was 5 carts at 12yrs old. The 1st time my wife saw me I was cruising a 1200 harley sportster down the highway at around 55-60ish.....front wheel been strait up and not spinning......somthing I have honed for the last 25+ years. Evil was a special kind of showman, it was the thrill 1st and the money second, not many will understand that. They will always think he was nutts, but I know better
