    Btldigger's Ultra 150 Project

This is going to be a running log on the makeover of my 2004 ultra 150. When I purchased it in Oct. 06 the ski had seen its fair share of bumps and scrapes in its 39 hours of life. In Nov 06 it broke a piston skirt and put it through the bottom case with 41 hours on it. Last winter was spent building a new motor. Break in began in Mar 07 first run out it ran 64.5 bone stock. It now has 97 hours of fun, wrenching and experimenting on it. Its last run in October it ran 71.1. Many of the things done to reach this speed are posted in the ulta 150 mods thread. This part is going to be about how it looks as well as making it even faster. The goal for me is to see if it will run 74 as a single pipe. Unless someone wants to donate me a set of tripples Today I started on it by removing all the decals and doing some cleaning on the hull. Stay tuned there is more to come. Here are the before and after pics.

I can't wait to see what you have in store. If you can get to 74 mph out of a single pipe, you will make a lot of people think twice about laying down the cash for triples.

That goal may be a bit high but you should always set goals slightly out of reach. I only know of one other that has gone that fast on a single that was Kerry Hibdon. Actually in all my research I havent found but very few going faster than I am now without going tripples. The paint should be something to see, think black and flames

The plan is for it to be all paint, already got the airbrush guy lined up and I think I found a painter.

Here are some progress pics. I was going to build a stand to hold it upside down, but I was struck with a moment of brilliance. Turn it upside down on the trailer At this point I laid down a guide coat then sanded with an 18" block to find the low spots. Also used a 4' strait edge to find the hook. All the chips, scrapes and low areas have been sanded and filled with short strand fiberglass filler. If all goes well the bottom should be ready for primer this weekend.

No I think the tunnel is ok. Guys have run 80 without touching it. Main goal is to take out most of the hook and free the hull up some more.
