Can anybody comment on how the Polaris 2871560 "Performance Intake Grate" compares with aftermarket, like the R&D short wing, or with the Polaris 5631080-329 "Mid-Sized Ride Plate" (which apparently is standard on my Virage TXi)

I must also comment on the Canadian $ prices, which are significantly higher than the US prices. Good thing I have a US $ Visa card...

the intake grate is the r&d short wing which came stock on the hurricane and pro 785. it works better than the 4 bar. the r&d big wing was originally designed for the sl650-750s and has a bigger wing - go figger- harder to find and hook you up better than the small wing. but they rob the top end on the glass.

That one doesn't have the back middle support bar like the one I bought off of Crazy A, Would it be a improvement to mod it to be like that one?

virage plate is nice when you find it used for about 40-60% of that ,

i bought one for 40 bucks , the grates i would keep it stock unless your gonna swim in the rough ,

whats really a sweet deal is this flush kits , i might get me a xmas gift

The R&D site shows the short wing fitting everything but the 750 and Hurricane BUT I know we have always just thrown the short wing on everything across the board.
Funny I just noticed it shows the SLT for the long wing yet in the top description not for 750 and Hurricane only.

    All MODELS (EXCEPT 750/ HURRICANE)

    750 SL/SLT/HURRICANE

As I recall the bar runs in the center where the driveshaft runs so it MAY NOT make that much of a difference??
I kind of remember hearing it offers better support to the intake grate and that some racers sharpened the bar to a V.

I think the newer produced ones don't have the center bar he speaks of. I believe those are the older ones? As for the sharpening of it, CrazyA just posted something about sharp edges causing cavitation? I'm pretty sure I read that post recently...

Could be, it like any other change needs to be performed correctly.
There's a thread around here somewhere with discussion about the pros/cons of the center bar.
