Bad pistons=engine lock up?
I have a 1997 xp and over the summer the engine seized n i found out because the oil line that goes tpo the rotary valve came off, so there was no oil in the pistons and I think they became way too hot and expanded n did damage to the cynlinder casings because there are some gouges..The way to get that fixed is to replace the pistons and bore out the cynlinder casings, and since the drive train locked, to pick up new bearings for that correct?...The pistons look like smoke damage all over them and they have gouges on them..is this the correct diagnoses..Im bringing it to a shop over december to get it fixed with new pistons and what not...
Is it safe to ski in cold water..like to test it out n make sure everything runs ok?

Driveline has nothing to do with pistons seizing.
