Question 4-Tec Water box install tips ?

I have a few ??'s regarding the installation of the green box.

Do you use teflon on the sensor ?

Is the Oe rubber strap used on the green box ?

How are you guys getting all the way to the back of the hull ?

What technique are you using to tighten the clamps all the way at the tip ??

I used liquid teflon on the sensor.

I used the stock rubber strap to hold the box tight. I also cut a piece of
1/4" hard foam and put under the box against the hull.

Put the rear rubber coupler on the box and tighten it up. Install the box and push the coupler onto the thru-hull exhaust extension.

By removing the opas blockoffs you can get to the rear of the hull. Angle the clamps so you can use an socket extension to tighten the rear coupler through the hull. Or, you can remove steering nozzel and the tunnel blockoff and tighten through there.

I didnt feel like removing the block off.
I am somewhat used to working blindy in tight places.
Used 2 flexible drill extensions, the black and decker drill ratchet.
I slid into the ski, got the ratchet on and a friend operated the drill.

    do the block off removal.

thanks guys, Bruins, I had already tried the reaching in and doing it without seeing but i didnt have a friend to hold the ski from tilting back.

Laf, I opted for your method and it worked pretty good. I removed the blockoff and I was able to get to the clamp from there. the only thing left is figuring out how im gonna remove the baffle from the waterbox before I get it on.

The first version of the shorty waterbox had a baffle (difuser plate) welded into them. Quite a few of the shorty's had the baffle break loose. The latest versions do not include the baffle.

Sounds like if you wait until it breaks off then you can pull it out a pipe hole. Mine did not have the baffle though.

I really dont know how it would break off, but they do. Ive been in the garage removing the OE waterbox and also thinking of a way to remove the baffle so that I wouldnt have to go through this again once it breaks. Even worse than that, Is going riding and having to end the day short because of the High temp alarm. Id rather take it off now and have piece of mind than have to be thinking if today is going to be the day it decides to break off.
