No hours posted or no pics of the engine. It is a great ski though, great for towing and rough water riding.

The ad list it as having 89 hours.... how many is normal for this enginge for either a top end or total rebuild? also how mechanic friendly is this model?
    thanks

Looks like a good deal to me, might do a compression test on it to be safe before you buy.

A top-end rebuild has nothing to do with hours of operation. Why? Because it is solely needed based on owner maintenance, care, and use of the ski.

I recently purchased a 2000 XP with only 83 hours on it. The previous owner never fogged it, all the hours it sat, and it has severe piston slap and needs a top-end.

Hydrolocking (flooding the engine with water) will kill one within 10 hours after the occurrance. Rods through cases too.

Proper care and operation will get you way over 400 hours on an engine.

It's a roll of the dice whether the engine was properly cared for by the previous owner(s).

Always roll of the dice when buying used..

the GTX is a nice model, I bought a GTI which seems to be similar, expect it has a smaller motor and less gauges ect. Looks like a nice ski good luck! and I agree on the compression test.. not hard to do at all.
