Setting up a ski straight outa the crate...

hey guys you might have noticed in my other thread that i want to import (from US to AUS) a couple of ski's, the new FX-SHO in particular...

the most likely scenario is that i will buy it/them from a dealer and get the dealer to drop the ski off at whichever shipping port still in its crate.

now when i get it out of the crate and in my garage, what will i have to do to it?

will there be any assembly or anything and will i have to adjust stuff etc?

will i have to add oils etc?

none of this would bother me as i love tinkering with my toys but i just wanna know what im up for thats all!

    thanks, mark.

it will come full with fluids at the proper level (no fuel obviously)

u will need to assemble the whole hood setup with trim pieces and attach the mirrors and visor.

u'll also need to assemble the steering system with the handlebars, cover, trim lever, buttons and throttle.

lastly, they dont come with the boarding step installed

so Hood, trim pieces, mirrors, steering system with controls, and boarding step is what needs to be done... and fill the battery with acid and charge it.

yup, just turn the key after that... Yamaha makes you work the hardest as far as prepping a ski out of the crate.... Kawasakis are in the middle... Seadoos are the most complete and easiest right out of the crate

    there's no assembly instructions, no

just an owners manual, a bag of hardware, the keys, etc.

all the body and trim pieces will be inside a cardboard box on the crate bottom...

the rest of the parts and handlebars and stuff will be inside the engine compartment.

Normaly they came from factory in crate with:

-Handle bars diassembled in a box
-No oil at all because of air freight Rules
    -No fuel
    -Battery without acid
The shop where you buy the skis should inform you also, and ask the dealer about instructions from factory whow to assemble everything.

cool, thanx for the replies guys

what sort of warranty do yamahas come with, and how do you think ill go with warranty issues at an australian dealer after i have imported a ski from the US?

if it is a manufactures warranty it shouldnt matter which dealer in the world fixes it, they are gonna be reimbursed by the factory anyway yeah?

You can get a pre-delivery assembly manual for the Kawasakis. I'd be surprised if Yammi didn't offer one too.

Must not matter...I just sold my two Ultra 250's to a guy in Australia...they don't seem to be worried! Alhough the extended warranty did not apply for out of the States.

i think you will find yamaha australia is the warrenty provider and therfore you will have no warrenty on an american ski
i seem to remeber the warrenty on my last ski was for the ski while in australian waters only
