4 tec plastic pump with stainless stator?

My 02 GTX 4 tec has a plastic pump housing with a stainless steel stator. The stator seems to have held up pretty well with only a couple of minor dings. I've seen a few plastic Seadoo pumps on Ebay but they all had plastic stators. I wouldn't mind having a plastic pump housing as long as the stator wasn't plastic. So I'm wondering which years/models had the stainless stator and which had plastic?

Wonder why they changed it? Wouldn't you rather have a stainless stator than aluminum? Aren't the folks that are replacing the plastic pump housing doing so because the plastic stator fins got chewed up and not some problem with the plastic housing itself? IOW it seems to me they got it right in 02 with the plastic housing and stainless stator which is better than both the all plastic and the all aluminum housings they have today. What am I missing?

Aren't the non SC models still using plastic pumps? I thought it was just the SC models that were using the aluminum pumps? I see where the aluminum housing would be much more rigid than the plastic. Wonder how much more it weighs? I guess the ultimate would be an aluminum housing with a stainless stator right? Bet it would cost a fortune.......

the change away from the stainless stator was not because it was an improvement but because all plastic was less expensive. the early SC ski's had an all plastic pump that wasn't strong enough, all the 155 horse ski's have plastic now.

yes they changed away from the all plastic pumps because they were flexing from the high horsepower and torque. that chewed up wear rings really quick.
