    A couple questions

    Hey everyone,

If you recall, I am rebuilding a 1996 sl900 after I bought it and it blew up a few hours later. I just got back my rebuilt crankshaft (Jeff and Midwest crankshaft - excellent/great price). I want to start reassembly but dont want to miss anything.

I have thought about it and I will be replacing the stator and cdi, I don't want to be digging around the front compartment trying to replace it after it fails some day down the road. I am also going to rebuilt the jet pump stator.

    Questions:

    1. When replacing fuel system, is it enough to just replace all the hoses? I have rebuilt carbs and pop-off is close to 30psi for each.

    2. Is the babitts website selling the ignition update kit for $271 or is that only the magneto not including the cdi? Partsland says its the kit for $330 so I find that price variation a bit odd.

    3. Where do you purchase an oil pump block off kit, I don't trust the injection after all the money I'm spending on this ski.

Im thinking of making a project section for this ski since there are so many routine jobs that I will be performing that would help other new people, I will include a ton of pictures.

    Thanks alot

Make sure to check/replace the hoses in the fuel tank and check the fuel selector switch.

I would call them to make sure, but I would say that is the correct price at Battitts. The have some awesome prices.

    3. Where do you purchase an oil pump block off kit, I don't trust the injection after all the money I'm spending on this ski.

Have you tried Watcon.com, or John Zigler?

Yes! We love to follow the progress of a project.

    Thanks alot
Hope all is going all Cal. Looks like you are going to have a nice pair of skis this summer.

No fuel lines in the tank on that model so you can skip that step the rest are great suggestions Z

    Thanks !

For pop-off how much pop are we talking? they definately release at a given pressure, but its not "quite" a POP.

    Just received my crankshaft

So today the crankshaft came, and I am a bit stuck. The seals I ordered from atlantic jetsports dont seem to be quite the same as the ones on my ski. I'll show you what i mean in the pictures I'm going to post:

    picture 1 = new crankshaft!
picture 2 = pto end without coupler
    picture 3 = mag end
picture 4 = the 2 seals that came in my wsm "complete" gasket kit
picture 5 = the 4 seals that came off the old setup
picture 6 = showing how the old rubber and metal seals on the pto end are about to fit into each other

I am not sure the parts dia show two seals one for each end. I am not up on the domestic stuff. Someone will comment when they see the thread.
