GPS Plots of my testing today.
I had my SC out today to see how plugging the rideplate holes helped. It looks like I gained at least 1 MPH from previous bests. Weather was near perfect for speed runs, 60 water and 64 air temps. There was some wind but not too much in my test area. Overall, the best speeds were a little over 64 which was ~1.5 MPH better than 2 weeks ago when I was out last time which had similar weather.
The picture is an attempt at plotting the acceleration runs using my GPS tracks. A couple aren't quite right, mainly due to timing. For grins and because the data was there, I also plotted the distance against time too.

Nice!! 0-60 in 5 secs. Did you use a program to plot the track data ?

I forgot Excel can do it Thanks.

Yeah, Excel works well for this. I exported the data as tab delimited text file and then imported it is. Toughest part is scrolling through an hours worth of data at 1 sec intervals to get the runs you want. I hope to work up a macro to automate it some.

A vba macro to graph out the data needed from the delimited file would be nice!
Ya I know exactly what you mean on sorting through the data.
I will usually turn off the gps , turn it on let it the gps settle and kick in then make the 0-70 run. Then when you check your active log the beginning will be where you made your runs.
Let me know if this helps any in the future and I'll add it to the Sticky in the technical section.

How did you upload the raw tracks to your computer? any special program?
I can't find that garmin track software anywhere and I don't feel like buying it. so is there something else I can use to extract the data?

Lurker, what GPS do you have? I use the Garmin MapSource program that I got with maps I bought (yeah, they are expensive but they have saved my but on land and water). Some GPS's come with a basic SW interface. If not, here is a package that supposedly does it but I haven't tried it.
Here is a site that has alot of info regarding GPS's

OK, here is an updated plot of just the cleanest and most realisticly consistant data. It includes an average line (black line) too.
