i was told to pull it out and do a air calibration before each use to make sure its operating properly.............it reads 20.9% after warm up and just holding it in the air to calibrate it before installation into the j-pipe............as well i will not leave it in after the boat is tuned i just havent got mine tuned yet!

Wideband O2's were developed by the OEM's for use in cars from the factory for >100k miles. It's fine to leave it in indefinitely. I have heard that it's not ok to leave it in if it's not energized, but I think that's crap also.

I've read a few times that it may not be ok to place the sensor upstream of the turbine. The high temperatures and pressures there could damage it. Keep in mind that pre-turbine exhaust gas can be as high as 1700 deg F and 60 psi. Mine is just downstream of the turbine wheel.
