    LCD Displays Hot

My brother has a Polaris SL750, possibly 1994. We were towing a knee board and ran over the rope which wrapped around the shaft. We tipped it on its side and removed the rope. He sat back on it and started to sink then realised it was full of water. The engine got a bit of water in itand his mate sorted that out and it was running fine. He then took it on the river and the display said hot and it cut out. After a few minutes he got it started and went back to shore. I turned it over te other day and it didnt start due to me not giving it any gas, fair enough, but the display said "hot" again which i found odd as it was only cranked over about 3 times.

Would this mean it has a faulty temp sensor?

    Welcome to the Hulk 666.
    1. Make sure all the cooling hoses are clear and the cooling intake at the jet pump is clear.
    2. Test the thermostat for proper operation, or remove it outright.
    3. Was the engine running for any length of time without water flowing when you were testing it? Or did you just crank it over and it displayed hot?

Welcome to Green Hulk. The temp switch is a simple 1 wire set-up(tan colored wire).Goes to ground when hot. Unplug the wire to test it.Probably best to open up the electrical box, make sure it's not filled with water/corosion,disconnect the wire at circuit board, measure for ground on tan wire.

Casey makes a great point. If it took on water, check to make sure the elec box is dry first.
