    crankshaft seals - does this look right?

    I am starting a new thread because my other one isnt very descriptive of my problem. I have a 1996 sl900 and I just got the crankshaft rebuilt but the pto seals are giving me some trouble... Of the 3 seals on this domestic engine, i know the metal one pops into the flywheel cover, while the other two press together in between two c-clips on the pto end.

    In the pictures below you can see that the seals are making the backmost c-clip bend out at the top, however the bevel on the seal in picture 2 makes the bottom of the seal fit in nicely, its the top thats giving me trouble. I'm not doing anything today so it would be a great day to get alot of work dne on this thing over the christmas break!

    i think i resolved the problem haha, the guy that did the crank shaft mixed up some of the seals and sent them all to me. The diagram in the book only talks about 2 seals, one for pto where springs face inwards, and the mag one is installed when the flywheel cover goes on.

    just wanted to make sure!

    Sorry, wish i could have helped. Glad you go it squred away. Splitting cases is just about the only thing i havnt done yet. Makes me a little nervous. How easy did you find it to be?
