    Cavitation question...

What about the cavitation in the pump shoe around the driveshaft...? I'm thinking of making a ss plate that coveres most of the gap aroung the shaft. Just a thin plate... like 0,6 0,8 or 1,0mm plate.

    What do you think?

Techinaclly cavitation is when the flow of water over the blades of the impeller delaminates and causes turbulance. Very similar to the stall situation in aircraft.

Funny, the first picture of BrewDart was from probbly a sewer station pump or a H20 pump. the term "Volute" is the housing. same principle different scenario. I think the best way I can explain this is if your swimming and you see a shark behind you.....You panic and start swimming faster out syinc??(did I spell that right)? Not only the Shark notices you "BIG" time. !! But,..........You are "Cavitating" BIG TIME. stay on fresh water use only It's air and water and turbelance all piled up in twilight zone O K, back to topic..............

But... would the space between the shaft and the pumpshoe need covering? As I see it, it will cause som cavitation (airbobbles) from that aerea if it's not covered. Heck, I'll do it anyway

But dosen't cavitation also have to do with
    (1) sucking air through the carbon/floating ring and
    (2) sucking air through the pump seal and
    (3) the prop compressing the water so hard and quickly that the air in the water is pressed out??
