What Gains from 02 pump to 05 pump?

I read that some fast guys are exchanging the gpr 02 and earlier pump to the 05 pump. What is the advantage and is it worth the money. I don't mind the work, and the object of course is more speed on my 02 gpr. I searched the forums here and did not find the answers I was looking for.

You did not search very hard. Minimum gain 1mph possibilities are endless I know people who have had their non ported 1200R single pipes over 77mph.

I feel you have to be careful with this conversion - you need to raise the HP up to turn the 14/20 Dynafly prop which is where most of the speed is coming from.

It is not just bolt on the pump and go.

if you do the swap you must run a dynafly and if your motor is stock it wont turn it, i did the 05 pump and dynafly swap on my 02 and gained a solid 3mph, just from that its deffinetly worth it

What is the cost of a brand new one? Can you take the internals from an 01 pump and install in a 05 housing?

Buy the 05 Pump housing, Cap, cap bolts and new seals. everything else will swap. I have found boats.net has the best prices on this stuff.

I guess I did not use the search question wording correctly. I kept getting a lot of related things, but not the answers I expected.
Also, I read that the drive shaft has to be replace with a longer one. Is that true also? That is more bucks for the mph gain.
I like the idea of getting the individual parts, that may be the cheap way to go, but necessarily the easiest.
Thanks for the help guys and girls.

Driveshaft does not need to be changed. In your case on an 02 ski if you wanted to add the 2" extension the you would need to change the shaft otherwise you are fine.

I ran a stock 1200 with milled head rejetted carbs and d-plate turning the dynafly to 74mph others have seen similar and better gains. the added HP from milling the head is a must to turn this like stated earlier.
