    SL780 rev limiting

Still battling with the old problem of the revs limiting. When the gray wire is disconnected it sometimes runs OK, but the rev limiting still kicks in from time to time, even with the gray disconnected - really weird. I believe it could be the CDI unit as temp. oil and fuel signals are all OK.

Does anyone out there know what the voltage on the gray wire is (measured from ground) when the engine is in and out of limp mode ? I want to confrim once and for all what is causing this.

    Thanks !

we had a 780 that did the same thing and it ended up being the stator was going bad . disconnect and ohm out your stator .

THe grey wire gets grounded by the LR54 when there is a problem. When the CDI sees a ground on the grey wire is goes into limp mode.If it grounds out any where along it's length you will see same result.Note; it limits RPM's to 4200,if your rpm's are different you may have a different problem.
It appears limiter is for temp & fuel only.
    97 780 uses a different system,let me know if you have a 97.

Try and swap it out with a known good one. I'm sure someone will lend you one for trial. I may even have 1. If that's it, you can buy it.
