    broken timing chain gtx 185hp

anyone seen a chain break on a 4tec?
Just pulled the rocker cover off a 03 gtx s/c 185hp and the chain is snapped and valves bent on front and rear cylinders.
The ski has 23 hours and was serviced not long ago.
Will pull the motor in the next few days and see what went wrong?

to see what went wrong? ... it seems you already found what went wrong, no?

new chain, new intake and exhaust valves, new gasket kit

they've been known to break camchains once in awhile. Not a common thing, but not an odd freak occurance either... it's happened

by what went wrong I mean possible tensioner or guide failure or even siezed cam etc
But was more wanting to know if it has happened before for no reason( which it sounds like it has) I have had it happen on a brp 800 v twin quad broke due to chain faulty.

It was more than likely just a faulty chain. I have seen plenty of them break.
Sux when it happens because you have bent valves all over the place

Dammit, what the *&$^ is wrong with BRP? How do you screw up specing a timing chain? Its only one of the most proven ways of driving a cam

Ok rant over. Sorry guys I compare everything engine related to the venerable SBC Chevy, BRP is no General motors
