Quick Stator Change Question
I have a quick question.. and hopefully an easy one. On a 99 Genesis is it possible to change out the stator/flywheel without pulling the motor out of the ski?
Well.. two questions.. will I also need a flywheel puller to do this? If so, is it a special one?

not much room you could do it in the boat but you still have to pull the motor and slide it back. Polaris does have a special puller but i'm sure Bernie will tell you of some crazy thing he has used. Try Randy at Watcon he might be able to hook you up with something he has. Better yet you should just drive to Al's he is a TV repairman and has all the tools. Vegas to Cali anit that far. . P.S. check out your other post before you do this. I just replied to it.

I think there's plenty of room, even in the SLTX. Randy at Watcon has a heavy duty short puller that allows easy removal of the flywheel while leaving the engine and tank in place.

Thanks craft.. man.. if i had known that Randy had a puller I would have asked him to let me borrow it and ship it with the replacement stator and flywheel i just purchased from him.. LOL.. oh well.

Let me know, I can get it packed up so you can use if IF needed.

Yes need short flat puller do it in situ .Make sure you dont put the bolts through the flywheel too far as it will destroy the old stator for sure .Measure the amount of thread you can use on the replacement one you have .Is the one from randy a six magnet or later model 12 ?.Use it if its 12 magnets not if its six .

Hey Bernie... the flywheel randy sent has 12 magnets. forgive the silly question but what is the difference?
Craft.. i'lll PM you in a sec.

had only 6 magnets, which would come loose, later flywheels had 12 magnets
The thin grooves on outside flywheel (for CPS sensor) were not deep enough on early flywheels, also changed with 12 magnet flywheels
