Crank doesn't turn
Ok, I put the crank casings together, sealed, all the bolts done. Tried to turn it. No go. So I take it apart, god what a mess, clean it all up and try to see what went wrong. I can not really come up with anything.
Any thoughts? It went together with out a hitch and when I took it apart I kept it in the lower section of the casing. It would not spin partly but not all the way. I take it out of the case it spins like a top.
I had it in there before to check and it spun fine but this time it didnt.

Are these new cases? Or a matched set?
Double check to make sure all seals and bearings locator pins are seated into their respective grooves and slots.
I have seen seals put in the wrong way.

on the end bearing there is a small pin in the case. Make sure the bearing lines up with the small hole on the edge not the hole in the center, We just had the same problem

Its critical to get that pin on the front bearing in the hole properly. If not it won't get proper lubrication.
Do you have a manual?
Is the crank new or rebuilt? It could be a runout problem as earlier suggested.

The crank is OEM, it came out of my old motor that threw a rod. It was sent to crankworks. Taken apart, every part inspected. Rod bearings where replaced, rods where replaced. Everything else checked out ok, and it was true and welded.
Going to throw it together right now, sans seals to see if it will spin.

Ok, I just finished putting it together sans bearings. Turns easy and smooth. Can't think what the problem was but I am going to clean the cases good again tomorrow and try it again.

Yay! Just finished doing all that over again. Spins freely now. Not sure what I did wrong the first time but I made sure I did everything correctly the 2nd time. Spins like a top!
Looks like I could be done by the end of the weekend.
