    98 xp power issue

newbe here but have reed for about 2 hours now and its now time to ask the question,

pull wot from standing still and it flys out of the hole then power cuts out untill l drop to about 1/2 throttle and its fine and dandy all day long.
But if l try any more throttle then half its like the brakes come on/power dyes of unless l let the throttle come back to half!!!
Gassing wot out of corners is also not a drama, carbs are rebuilt

Has anyone had this problem, thinking that it could be cdi or something.

Sounds like fuel starvation I would replace the notorious grey Tempo Sea Doo lines, clean the fuel selector valve and fuel filters.

fuel lines look fresh but pulled down carbs last night and found when they put a kit in them they left the old filters there and l could not blow into them at all. Hope this sorts it out. what is the fuel selector valve? and what happens to it?

I'm not entirely sure your ski has one. It is the valve that is used to go between on, off, and reserve. It can become clogged with the rotting residue of the grey fuel lines.

replaced the little filters in carbs and took it for a run, also tryed cleaning the main filter
Ski was fantastic for about 15 min then went back to doing the same thing going to replace main filter first and if this dont work then pull the ski apart to change fuel lines

Is there a easy way of doing the lines without having to rip it all apart?

Started to rain this arvo so l bit the bullet AFTER l had come back and washed the ski, to strip it all down, pulled all the fuel lines except breathers,3 way switch and main filter to get ready to replace them, interesting that when l pulled the lines of the filter the outlet to tank was half bloked with crad.

Also while l striped it down pulled the carbs of to get to the hs needle to find that it was all the way up tight!!! so after reading a bit they are now 1/2(front) 1 turn back as javiert99 has done on his ski http://www.greenhulk.net/forums/show...ht=carb+tuning
(IF ANYONE DOES NOT RECOMEND THIS ON A 98 XPL TELL ME NOW BEFORE IT GOES BACK TOGETHER PLEASE!!!!! )

and ls needles are set at 1.3/4 out.

Hopefully have it back together in next 2 days.

if you have a bone stock ski with no motor mods done, your settings on your carbs work correct from the get go. HS should have been closed, they jet them so there is only one way you can turn those screws. You open them up and you just added more fuel, safety measure so that someone couldn't blow the ski up. Leave it back to closed if its stock, you just added more fuel to your setup.
And yes, replace all your fuel lines. While your at it, pull the fuel baffle out and clean it as well. Inspect your fuel and see if you have a lot of crap floating around. Also I'd put an external fuel filter right before the carbs so that if you do get more debris, its easier to replace that than the ones in the carbs, saves ya time,
