My 4" Cold Air Intake and free flow pipe...Pix

I just finished making my own cold air intake...fortunately my boat has tons of room to do these mods, less knuckle scrapin'
I used 4" dust collection hose with a 4">3" pvc reducer, not the most glamorous material but it does the job. As you'll see in the pictures, I have a side intake on the boat with a 4" connection which worked perfectly for this application...lots of cool air! I made a filter to fit in the side intake reduce the chance of water and dust entering the air charge. I also made a freeflow pipe out of 2.5" aluminized exhaust pipe and shined it up with Mothers polish. I had originally installed a 3" blower fan inline with the intake but figured at higher RPM I may be starving the SC...I still plan to hook it up after I see how this current combo works, can't wait to hear and see how these mods perform.

    Enjoy

I forgot to ask this: The rectifier is still mounted to the airbox which isn't in use, will this need to be moved or will it be fine without the airflow? Also, I still have what looks like the pvr line hooked up to the old airbox as well, not sure if this needs to be re-routed to my new intake. Thx for the help

    Hey yuji.
How fast is that boat? I ran across on the other day. And I believe it was like yours and it was scoottin across the water.

Give us a pic of the whole boat so I can see!

Yuji, Just a note keep a close watch on that flexable hose. It may collaspe when the supercharger is at full boost. They pull a ton of air. Let us know how it performs.

I highly doubt that hose will collapse, very strong but flexible. Dryer vent hose on the other hand would surely collapse at some point. I took it out today and found that it revs way quicker out of the hole, now getting some cavitation with hole shot. The midrange seems better too with no gain in top end. Not sure if this motor is supposed to rev at the same RPM as the RXP's but the max I get is 7650 with oil level reading 3/4 and 3/4's tank of gas.

When I checked the rectifier it was dang hot, so I'm going to mount it so that it has some intake air passing over it. As for the pvr, it definitley leaves alot of oil in the intake...not sure what I'm going to with that lil' devil. At any rate, it looks like I'm going to need a repitch to get those revs down on hole shot and get the revs up on top end.
