    Oil leak, where from?

My 04 RXP has been sitting in the garage for a few months and I noticed last night oil in the hull under the engine. I wiped it away and had another look tonight and there is another small pool of clean oil in the bottom of the hull.

Are there any common places that leak oil, what's the easiest way to check?

    Thanks

    Grant

Have you pulled the driveshaft a few times? Check the bottom of the rubber seal that goes between the motor and and driveshaft ... sometimes that floating bearing setup or the rubber sleeve breaks or gets loose or the clamp lets go, and oil will leak out ... if there is oil there, loosen the clamp, clean up the oil, then reinsert the bearing firmly into the rubber sleeve and re-clamp it. Just one possibility ...

I have just checked all round the driveshaft and rubber seal and there is no sign of oil there.

I have leveled the ski off and lined paper on the bottom of the hull, so hopefully tomorrow I will have a better idea of where it's coming from.

OK so the leak was coming from the driveshaft boot seal, how easy is this to repair/replace?

What parts are needed, i.e. just the boot or the boot complete with bearing etc?

    Cheers,

    Grant

When I had to buy it, you had to buy it as a complete set, rubber boot and bearing. Then you just clamp it on and you are good to go.
